OUR BELIEFS

At GraceHIll, we are excited to share the Good News that God, the creator of the universe, loves all people!  He showed it by giving his one and only Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

We believe the Bible is the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:21, 2 Timothy 3:16) God’s Word includes law, which shows us our sin, and gospel, the good news that shows us our Savior, Jesus.

We believe in one God in three persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19)

The Bible tells us that God created all things good (Genesis 1:31), but that the first humans fell into sin – rebellion against God.  (Genesis 3:1-14)  Since then all people have inherited a sinful nature from our first parents (Psalm 51:5), that is evident in our sinful thoughts, words, and actions.  We would all be lost forever because of sin, but God, our Heavenly Father, sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to be born of a woman and to live as one of us – a true man, yet truly God.  Jesus lived the perfect life that God’s law requires (Hebrews 4:15,), then suffered and died to pay the penalty that was due all people for their sins (2 Cor. 5:21),  In doing so, Jesus bought sinners back for God (1 Peter 3:18).  The gifts Jesus won for us – forgiveness and everlasting life – are given to us by God’s grace alone, received by faith alone (Eph. 2:8) in Jesus Christ alone (John 14:6) as our Lord and Savior.

Jesus rose again from the dead (resurrection appearances recorded in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts), and lives and reigns with the Father in heaven (Heb. 1:3). Jesus will come again to judge all people, living and dead (Matthew 25:32-46).  We believe in the resurrection of everyone from the dead when Jesus returns at the end of the world – some to eternal punishment, others to eternal life.  Whoever trusts in Jesus as their Lord and Savior will have eternal life (John 3:16).

We believe that the Holy Spirit works through the Word of God and the sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion) to draw people to Jesus Christ and to strengthen believers in their faith.

As those who have been loved and forgiven by God, we joyfully seek to spread the Good News about Jesus and to love and serve God and our neighbors.

Our congregation is a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.  You can learn more about the church body here: LCMS.org.

OUR CORE VALUES

Christ is the way, the truth and the life.

The word of God is our source for how we live our lives, where truth can be found and how we treat one another. We let the Word change us, we don’t change It, no matter what culture says.

Verse: John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.

We are fully known AND fully loved.

Only God can fully know and fully love us, but we strive to love each other and model what God does for us to each other. We focus on real relationships, everyone has a place, and everyone is given grace, and in fact, it meets you at the door.

Verse: Luke 15:20 “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

We are a place to call home.

Like the comfort of home, GraceHill is a place where you feel like you belong. It is welcoming, genuine & real. The pastor is relatable & approachable. The atmosphere is relaxed and we create a family feel by sitting at tables. We keep it simple and our worship is not a production or performance. It’s a place you feel comfortable inviting others and when they attend they will want to come back.

Verse: Acts 26:17-18 I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.

Your story matters.

At GraceHill we say this is a place where your story meets His and when you meet Him your story is forever changed. God is at work in every one of our lives and your story has power and is an incredible witness of hope to others.

Verse: John 4:39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”

We don’t attend GraceHill, we are GraceHill.

As a church, we are the body of Christ and each person is significant. Your God given gifts and abilities are needed, and God wants you to use them to bless others.

Verse: 1 Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Our impact outlives us.

We are empowering our kids right now to make a difference in the lives of their friends and families so that they can carry this on long after us to the next generation.

Verse: 1 Timothy 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

We live big through generosity.

God has given His first and best to us through His Son Jesus. Therefore, we do not hold back from giving God all we can in order to further the Kingdom and support the mission He has given us.

Verse: 2 Corinthians 9:7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

We have an attitude of gratitude.

We are grateful in all circumstances, because even if God doesn’t give us anything else, he has already given us enough. Knowing this, we feel compelled to celebrate others to build them up and to live a life of joy with each other.

Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

We are a church that plants churches

God’s Great Commission is fulfilled by church planting. When you use multiplication instead of just addition, you are able to reach significantly more for the Kingdom. At GraceHill, we want to be a continual part of that multiplier to start new churches that will save more people.

Verse: Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
